Is it possible for a Christian to be convicted of his/her salvation?
Being a Russian Orthodox Christian, one of the beliefs is that we cannot be convicted of our Salvation. That because we experience that one moment where we experience God, does not mean we are saved. And I was just thinking. Many of you probably know the bible better than I do. But God is the judge over which you will be saved and damned. Christian theology states that humans are born sinners who spend their life time trying to become more like Jesus. In other words, we sin a lot, make a lot of mistakes etc. Yet when we compare our judgement of ourselves involving salvation and compare it to that of God's who alone decides our fate, we are correct. To me that comparison is full of Hubris. And me not being convicted of salvation, does not influence my conviction in my belief in God. What are your thoughts?
